Open Door builds FUN into every opportunity! Our positive, energetic spirit creates an environment where people want to come and stay.

What does your donation do? Your contribution enhances the lives of disabled adults by ensuing that each individual gets not only what they need, but what they want, to live their best life.

Your money provides:
* Dental care that is not covered by Medicaid
* Admission to a concert, play or sporting event (post pandemic)
* Adaptive equipment (communication boards & tablets)
* Special birthday dinners & holiday celebrations
* Arts & craft supplies, games
* New carpet & furniture for group houses
* A new pair of jeans or a coat
* Money for individual to buy a favorite music CD or book

The list could go on, but the important thing to realize is that state funding only covers the bare necessities. Your help ensures clients have a quality life.

Many see Open Door buses all over the Sandwich community on a regular basis. It is through YOUR donations that the wheels on these buses keep turning and by YOUR generosity that individuals served are able to go to a multitude of places and do so many things!

THANK YOU!

Who are weOpen Door began in 1963 with the actions of two visionary duos who have now forever impacted, hundreds of lives in the community of Sandwich, IL. David & Juanita Graf and William & Virginia Squier recognized a need in their hometown. Each couple had adult children with disabilities whom they felt would greatly benefit from daily, structured programming like Open Door provides still today.

Who is ODDO? ODDO is the Open Door octopus. ODDO is an acronym that stands for Opening Doors and Developing Opportunities, which is what Open Door does for the individuals we serve. His colorful tattoos are a reminder that the disabled adults who live and work at Open Door should have a balanced life. Shouldn’t we all?

Unfortunately, many disabled people have obstacles that make it difficult to achieve a quality life in all eight areas. ODDO doesn't believe in letting those obstacles get in the way, so he helps all of his friends at Open Door work together to ensure that everyone thrives and creates their best possible life!

ODDO’s tentacles represent the following areas: work & money, community & service, health & well-being, personal image & self-direction, personal relationships, culture & spirituality, fun & recreation, home & personal space.
